Hips, Haws and Hangovers
I have a migraine hangover headache this week, which means that after the migraine on Friday, for the rest of this week, I will wake up feeling pretty crappy, off-colour and with a sore head, until about 10am. I'll feel increasingly well through the day. Then at about...
Using magic bread dough to make pizza
Pizza for dinner tonight. Oops, forgot to take any pictures, the picture was taken after dark and is the last remaining portion. Remember the magic dough kept in the fridge? When we got back from the bread course we went to at River Cottage, I made a bread mix. I...
A linen skirt for £2, Char de Crabbe & prescriptions
This 15th century delicacy can be made with crab apples or thinnings from an apple tree
A freeform loaf and a broad bean & feta wrap
Made a loaf with the dough I keep in the fridge today. Thought I would try a freefrom one this time. Partly because I wanted to see if I could do one, and that it wouldn't flatten itself out on the baking sheet. Partly because I wasn't sure how much to put in a loaf...

Rosemary, mustard and cayenne scones, 12 for 53p
Was intending to make plain scones today, but ended up adding rosemary and cayenne, plus some oats. It worked very well. They had a lovely flavour from the rosemary, and a bit of a kick from the cayenne. The oats gave them quite a different texture, more short than usual. Nice tho
Fruit Trees, Date & Apple Muffins and Sugar Paste Flowers
Nipped down to Eastbourne this morning to see DD1. Took down a couple of big pots to add to the three already there, and some compost, and we potted up the 5 little fruit trees that were her Christmas present. The plum is already covered in blossom and she should have...
Pancakes, with lemon and sugar, the classic, and SUPER cheap!
I couldn’t tell the difference between my usual ones, made with eggs and milk, and these. Costwise, these could be doable, where egg and milk ones weren’t. Pancakes with lemon and sugar – or there are lots of other lovely ways to enjoy them
Semi Freddo Red Berry Yogort, 26p a generous portion
Whizz the still very frozen fruit with the yogort until amalgamated. On tasting it was just a bit too sharp, so I added a couple of tblsps of sugar.
