In Meal Plan 2, there are 750g of onions available to make caramelised onions. Onions cooked this way are delicious and very versatile. This quantity will make about 1 jam jar full.
Meal Plan 2
Pancakes, with lemon and sugar, the classic, less than 3p each
I couldn’t tell the difference between my usual ones, made with eggs and milk, and these. Costwise, these could be doable, where egg and milk ones weren’t
Raisin Biscuits, 28p a batch – loads of variations
These little biscuits are fun to make, but a bit too moreish for a sweet toother like me
Carrot & Sultana Loaf – 9p per serving
if you take 250g flour, some yeast and water, you can add many, many different things to it and get a lovely loaf, with 4 portions, to use for any meal
Pancakes filled with Carrots, Onions and Peas in Soft Cheese, 21p a serving
A pair of pancakes stuffed with sauted vegetables and bound together with creamy soft cheese – delicious.
Olive Drop Scones, Crispy Fried Onions & Carrot Ribbon Salad, 24p a pop
Dinner this evening were these delicious little drop scones, accompanied by crispy fried onions and a carrot salad with a few raisins sprinkled in and spritzed with lemon juice.
Pasta with Tomato, Olives & Soft Cheese, 37p a serving
The flavour of the sauce is thick and intense with the tomato paste and olives, a strong taste which I really enjoyed
Pitta with Carrot, Lemon & Soft Cheese
A pitta bread filled with a mixture of grated carrot, lemon zest and juice and soft cheese. It was very tasty, it would work without the lemon if you don’t have any, but it really does make a big difference to the flavour, especially the zest.
Olive, Soft Cheese and Cucumber Sandwich, 30p
Lunch today was this scrummy sandwich – I have only just finished eating it. This is a real quality sandwich, it would cost £3 or £4 from a shop.
Croutons
Croutons are incredibly useful little things. They can shoosh up many a dish.
Cinnamon Toast for breakfast, 4p a slice
Breakfast this morning, frugalised Cinnamon Toast, just 4p a slice. Super quick and easy, and vegan too.
Salted Cashew Couscous 30p a serving
Wanted to try a couscous salad that I have been doing for a while and see if I could get it sub 50p. Well, it worked out at 60p for the dish in the picture, and there is plenty there for two, so 30p each, billy bargain 🙂
