I love this soup, it is my go to for a soup for lunch. I usually add a tsp of ginger paste from a jar, a tsp of garlic paste, and a tsp of turmeric to give it a lovely spicy kick, and it’s cheap enough to have a big bowl.

A versatile couscous salad that can use up all kinds of bits and pieces – add some more protein too if you like
Caramelised Onions
Onions are a flavour powerhouse. They are sweet, savoury and pungent all at once. Caramelised onions have all that umami flavour concentrated and are very useful

Meal planning and using a shopping list are a standard way of saving money on groceries. It's simply astonishing how much we spend on impulse purchases without a list - the supermarkets are super skilled at making that happen! It's estimated that the average household...
Raisin Pancakes
Gorgeous raisiny pancakes. Use whatever dried fruit you have. Super quick, a great hollow leg filler. Vegan too
Olive, Soft Cheese and Cucumber Sandwich
Salty olives, creamy cheese and crunchy cucumber encased in granary bread – scrumptious!
Pasta with Olives, Tomato & Soft Cheese
The flavour of the sauce is thick and intense with the tomato paste and olives, a strong taste which I really enjoyed
Raisin Biscuits
Raisin Biscuits. Fun to make in little shapes, or elegant in thin rounds
Salted Cashew Vegan Couscous Salad – warm or cold
Wanted to try a couscous salad that I have been doing for a while and see if I could get it sub 50p. Well, it worked out at 71p for the dish in the picture, and there is plenty there for two, so 35p each, billy bargain 🙂
Carrot Jam
Jam using vegetables? Yes! Carrot jam is zesty from the lemon, with a little crunch from the carrot shreds. It tastes fresh and delicious!
Cream Cheese Pizza
The balance of flavours is great in this cream cheese pizza. The strength of the tomato puree, the crunch of the roasted onion slices, the creaminess of the cream cheese and the strong saltiness of the olives.
Carrot & Sultana Loaf
If you take 250g flour, some yeast and water, you can add many, many different things to it and get a lovely loaf, with 4 portions, to use for any meal
