Cooking bacon needed using up. It occurred to me that a bacon paste would be really good. I thought I would tweak it and use the flavours of a classic bacon sandwich by substituting tomato ketchup for the sun dried tomatoes
Can 1 sausage can make 2 sandwiches? Plus a sublime fruit and nut case paste
Sausage paste is gorgeous! One sausage could be stretched in this way to make 2 sandwiches which would make it very cheap. I simply love the fruit & nut case paste!

I have been fancying for a while having a go at making sausages, and this week, I did just that. They were glorious!
Sardine and Tomato Fish Cakes, and Tuna Fish Cakes
We made fish cakes! One version using a tin of sardines in tomato sauce, and another using a tin of tuna canned in oil.

Having tried draining and rinsing a can of beans recently for the sardine sandwich paste, I thought I could make lots of different variations of a beany sandwich filler with that same type of bean.

The tomatoes/spinach can be replaced with any other veg too. I shall try carrots, probably roasted, ditto parsnips, maybe leeks, fennel, it might work with dark green veg, spring greens or kale.

After the successful experiment with chicken and sun dried tomato paste, I couldn’t resist having a go with some beef.
We had had a beef joint recently and the leftovers were sliced and frozen for another day. So out came some of that and I used the same proportions.
