A Trio of Vegetable Hummus
I make chickpea hummus and different flavours all the time. This week I found the joys of vegetable hummus. Made using green peas, or butternut squash or sweetcorn. Many more flavours to try still. Vegan and low Syn too!
Sugar Free Chocolate, Cranberry and Walnut Tea Bread
This rather wonderful tea bread started life as an extremely simple ordinary bread loaf
Baked Oats
I’ve written before about how delicious overnight oats are, but I there is something else to do with oats in the morning. Baked Oats and I’m loving them!
Do you need, or want, extremely cheap meals, to eat for 50p a day for a bit, or even longer?

Maple Syrup, Toasted Almond & Cranberry Granola
This granola is just as I wanted it. Warm and smooth from the maple syrup, with hits of sharpness from the cranberries and extra crunch from the almonds. Delicious!
8 Sandwich Pastes for super cheap sandwiches and toast toppers
I have made lots of different sandwich pastes and toast toppers. This round up post gathers together 8 of them. I’ve really liked each of them. They are quick and cheap to make, freeze well and can be used as sandwich fillers, toast toppers, jacket potato fillings and even with pasta if let down with some liquid.
Savoury yogurts, yes savoury. Have you ever tried them? It’s new to me, and I’m loving it
Yesterday, I came up with rather a wonderful concoction. It tastes wonderful on its own and would be fab with hot buttered pitta. I would be very happy with that for breakfast with carrot batons, or a couple of slices of black pudding.
Gorgeous Granola Breakfast Bars. Super simple to make
My husband loves the Sainsbury granola bars. Those ones in the paper bags, sold by the bread. I’ve been playing around with a recipe for a while now, trying to get it right. Think I’ve cracked it this time!
Bacon & ketchup paste, BLT on the cheap!
Cooking bacon needed using up. It occurred to me that a bacon paste would be really good. I thought I would tweak it and use the flavours of a classic bacon sandwich by substituting tomato ketchup for the sun dried tomatoes
Can 1 sausage can make 2 sandwiches? Plus a sublime fruit and nut case paste
Sausage paste is gorgeous! One sausage could be stretched in this way to make 2 sandwiches which would make it very cheap. I simply love the fruit & nut case paste!
Overnight Oats – squillions of ideas
I am a new convert to overnight oats, and I’m loving them. These are wonderful if you are time stretched. You can make up dishes ready to be topped, or a big bowl that can be used over several days, or directly in little pots ready to be topped and carried off to work or school. Children may like the control of topping their own oats, or if littlies, tiny little individual portions may appeal.
