Beetroot burgers, 41p
This is a new recipe I tried today, in our ongoing mission to have more purple portions – beetroot burgers. Packed full of veg and all the goodness that implies, and if it is of interest to you, it is vegetarian, vegan if you leave out the egg, and gluten free too (use gf oats).
Heathfield Agricultural Show
It was the Heathfield Agricultural Show today. True to form, the rain belted down overnight and was tipping it down when I got up this morning. The forecast was for sun later on, so fingers were crossed. The show is a big deal in the community, attracting thousands of visitors for the just one day event.
Veg, fish, steps, shopping and a demo
Freeze Dried I’ve been enjoying many different ways of using the dried vegetables and fruit. I’ve bought some onion powder, which has a pretty intense flavour, and I’m enjoying the idea of getting to grips with that, and topped up supplies of beetroot (I only had a...
Freeze dried fruit and vegetables. Tasty? Economical? Desirable?
I have been on a journey that began with Google and ended with kitchen experiments, and you know how much I love those! I have been making mueslis and granolas for a while now and one day a few weeks ago, I took a fancy to adding some of those dried raspberries you...

A number of books
Went to U3A book group yesterday. I sort of enjoyed the book we read, but it was a bit of a ghost story and I’m not too keen on those. I did, however, buy a new science fantasy book in Waterstones when we were in Newcastle and am enjoying it hugely. It’s a new author...
Tomato flavoured sparkling water rolls
Made the carrot soup for Mike’s lunch today (I’m back on the diet and had something different), and some tomato flavoured rolls to go with it using the sparkling water loaf recipe from a few days ago. This time I used the same ingredients as for the stripped back loaf...
Back to reality
We’re back from our break today and back to the real world.
Away for a few days
Away for a few days, at Rushton Hall in Northampton, then further north to Newcastle
