Value rice versus risotto rice
so there we have it. Four recipes from 1 pk of £2.03 mackerel fillets. What else could we have done with them – would love to hear your ideas.
When Googling for inspiration, I found one for risotto. I haven’t used value rice for risotto yet, I’ve always used risotto rice. Have you made risotto with value rice after using risotto rice? What did you think of it compared with risotto rice?
Goodness, that’s a lot of times to say ‘risotto’!
I’m just going to have to try it aren’t I 🙂 I’ll have a look in the cupboard and see what inspiration strikes to put in it.
I always used to use Arborio rice for risotto (back when we could afford it!) but now I just use whatever I’ve got. You don’t get the melting creaminess that you do with proper risotto rice, but unless you’re a purist with oodles of cash, I don’t think it actually matters that much. Stirring a spoonful of value Parmesan-type cheese or strong cheddar through at the end helps to give it a sort of sticky creaminess, as well as adding a lot to the taste.
